In this episode we dig deep into tech with Koby Karp, Executive Director at RGAx, the Transformation Engine of RGA. Koby has always been passionate about technology and using Artificial Intelligence to build better products and services. Born in Russia, Koby moved to Israel in his teens, studied robotics and today is considered a thought leader as it relates to AI and ML (Machine Learning) in the Insurance Industry.

Koby shares some of the projects RGAx is focusing on in terms of AI and Blockchain. For example, RGAx is working on automating underwriting in order to make it faster and more efficient. And in general digitization of the insurance industry. Still, today, many insurers work with paper or scans that won’t allow them to analyze their data properly. Koby explains the issues with OCR (Optical Character Recognition) and also touches on data privacy.

Michael and Koby also talk about InsurTech investment strategies in general and in detail about RGAx’s investment in QEDIT, an Isreali startup focusing on Zero-Knowledge Blockchains and enabling data privacy. QEDIT can help companies comply with data privacy laws and take data protection to the next level by giving the power to people to decide which data is shared.

Other companies we mentioned in this episode:
