Rahul Mathur

Rahul is the Startup lead at Accenture’s FinTech Innovation Lab in London. Prior to joining Accenture, he was an Insurance Product Manager at Laka Insurance, a London headquartered early stage InsurTech start-up which recently won at the British Insurance Awards 2019.  Rahul holds a master’s degree in Statistics from the University of Warwick. He is an Ambassador at the Asia InsurTech podcast.

September ends with more investment news. GirnarSoft will invest $20 million in its omnichannel insurance subsidiary InsuranceDekho. The funds will be used to strengthen InsuranceDekho’s transaction businesses and expand deeper into the country with its B2C platform.

Singaporean InsurTech Igloo is in the news again with the launch of PandaCare together with food delivery company FoodPanda in Thailand. PandaCare will include motor insurance from MSIG Insurance, personal accident insurance from Cigna Insurance, and daily hospitalisation income protection from Tune Insurance. Igloo is expanding rapidly across Southeast Asia and PandaCare is its second product in the Thai market after launching its smartphone protection with one of the major telco providers.

ICICI Prudential Life launches an AI-powered voice chatbot on Google Assistant which sparks the conversation around conversational AI. While conversational AI is surely the way moving forward, the team raises the question if plugins into virtual assistants like Google and Alexa is the best way to spend time and resources on at this point in time.
