In this episode, Michael Waitze recorded with Amarit Franssen, the co-founder of Thai InsurTech AppMan. The venture started as a software development startup and focused on insurance very early on. Since 2014, AppMan has been exclusively providing solutions for insurers and has a strong focus on digitization of the sales process. This Thai startup has started to expand within the region with clients and developers in Indonesia and Vietnam.

Amarit shares his view on the insurance middleman. In his opinion, agents will continue to be an important part of insurance distribution but technology can help agents serve their clients better and be more efficient. AppMan is offering solutions to support agents in the sales process by providing software around financial assessments as well as chatbots as the first contact for their clients.

AppMan also provides solutions for insurers to capture relevant client data for the underwriting process. Amarit shares his thoughts on the evolution of insurers in Thailand from a paper-based process to a mostly digital process.
