It’s difficult to keep up with all of the latest InsurTech news in Asia. DocDoc raised USD 13 million in funding to go global, MyDoc has partnered with Prudential, GRAB has launched a new MicroInsurance product for its drivers and Axinan has obtained a license to underwrite insurance in Malaysia. And this is only August in Singapore! What about the rest of Asia?

In our AIP News Roundup, Michael Waitze is discussing the hottest Asian InsurTech news of the month with AIP founder Theresa Blissing and brand new AIP ambassador and product manager at Laka, Rahul Mathur. The three are reviewing the August news and are issuing their personal opinions on the latest developments in Asia.

Are InsurTech partnerships may be a Trojan Horse enabling startups to disrupt the industry? Why are there so few InsurTech companies coming out of Japan while there seems to be a huge appetite for Japanese firms to invest in the Southeast Asian startups? And how will FWD manage the balance of expanding rapidly as an innovation driver in Asia and handling acquisition aftermaths that will most likely tie up lots of resources?
